At the end of October, a groundbreaking ceremony took place at the new ZF Electronics Plant in Częstochowa.

In the new hall ZF plans to start production of advanced driver assistance systems, including high-performance controllers for automated and autonomous driving.

"With the expansion, our plant will employ at least 50 additional workers. Our intention is to complete the construction and be ready to install new lines in the new production hall mid- next year," emphasized Krzysztof Gablankowski, Plant manager of ZF Electronics Plant in Częstochowa. "Since the beginning of our investments here, we have received significant support from the authorities of the City of Częstochowa and the Katowice Special Economic Zone. This is a key reason why we have decided to implement further projects and expand our activity," added Krzysztof Gablankowski.

"The new investment of ZF Group in Częstochowa will allow to create attractive workplaces in the area of new technologies for next generation mobility," said Krzysztof Matyjaszczyk, Mayor of the City of Częstochowa. "Our long-term, successful cooperation is an example of how the partnership of business and local administration can bring tangible results and contribute to the development of the whole region" added Matyjaszczyk.

The ZF Electronics Plant is the company’s first greenfield project in Częstochowa. The modern factory situated in the Katowice Special Economic Zone already employs around 200 people. The entire ZF investment in the construction and subsequent expansion of the new Electronics Plant in Częstochowa, which began in 2017, will amount to more than €100 million by 2025.

"The Katowice Special Economic Zone supports the sustainable development of the region. The activity and expansion of companies such as ZF transform the entire Zone. For this reason, we made the decision to once again support the Group's investment with pleasure," - said Dr. Janusz Michałek, President of the KSSE S.A. Board during the ceremony.

In mid-2020, the plant started serial production of ZF’s latest generation S-Cam 4.8 cameras offering a 100-degree field of view for advanced driving assistance systems. Due to the new investments in expansion of the production facility, the plant is preparing to start serial production of further technologies supporting the safety of drivers and passengers and the development of autonomous functions. These include radar systems, electronic modules supporting vehicle braking systems and airbag control units .

With a total area of 12,000 square meters, the Częstochowa plant is located on a 69,000 square meter plot of land in the local Katowice Special Economic Zone. It includes production halls, offices, meeting rooms, test areas and warehousing of materials. The new investment will allow to expand the production area to over 9.000 m2.

ZF has operated in Częstochowa for over 30 years and is one of the area’s largest employers. There are now three manufacturing facilities (airbag production, seat belt production, and electronics production) as well as Engineering Centers focused on designing, developing and testing automotive safety systems. In addition, the ZF European Shared Services Center operates in Częstochowa, providing financial and accounting processes for European ZF Group facilities, the IT Center, and the Global Purchasing Office.
