gmmpAccording to the daily Handelsbatt, Opel’s plant in Gliwice is set to begin gearing up to launch the production of not only a 3-door version of Astra IV.

niewiadow_logoThe Polish Ministry of the Treasury’s third attempt to privatise Niewiadów S.A., the well-known vehicle trailer manufacturer, has been unsuccessful.

gmmpProduction of a three-door version of Astra IV at General Motors Manufacturing Poland (GMMP)’s plant in Gliwice will begin three months earlier than initially planned, Andrzej Korpak, director of GMMP, told reporters in a meeting with GM Poland’s top management.

gmmpIn December, another 40 employees at GMMP’s factory in Gliwice are set to sign permanent contracts of employment with the car maker.

3m_logoConstruction of the new 3M factory has officially been launched. The project will cost EUR60 mln.



The foundation laying ceremony was attended by Tony Stokes, Vice President and Head of the Automotive Division at 3M; representatives of the city administration and of the Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone.

The facility is another 3M's investment in Poland realised within the strategy of the European Production Centre creation. The project is planned to be finished by June next year and will be divided into several stages. Construction works of a production floor, equipment installation and employees trainings have already started. The estimated number of 50 new workplaces will be created in the facility by the end of 2012. At the moment the factory has been offering employment to 400 people and producing elements for ceramic catalytic converters and diesel filters for passengers cars, trucks and buses.

Production process introduced in the factory is based on a new technology which is environment friendly and uses limited amounts of energy and water. Preparation and test of the technology took several years and have been conducted in 3M laboratories with active participation of a team from Poland.
